The founding mechanism review: PPS supports chondrocyte anabolism, inhibits catabolic enzymes, normalizes synoviocyte hyaluronan synthesis, and stimulates endothelial release of tissue plasminogen activator while lowering PAI-1 — the proposed route by which a heparinoid could improve subchondral blood flow in OA joints.
