Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Mean lifespan, food intake and body weight were unchanged. Lifespan of the last 10% of survivors rose 13.3% and maximum lifespan 12.3%; chromosome aberrations in bone marrow fell 17.1%; total tumour incidence was unchanged while leukaemia fell six-fold.
- Population
- Female outbred Swiss-derived SHR mice, 54 per group, from 3 months old to natural death
- Intervention
- Epitalon (AEDG) 1 µg/mouse subcutaneously, 5 consecutive days each month for life
- Comparator
- Saline injections on the same schedule
- Limitations
- A different peptide from Cartalax and nothing to do with joints; the headline mean-lifespan endpoint was null; injected, not oral; Khavinson is a co-author.
