Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Records the peptide as 'safe in clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease (PL 10, PLD 116, PLD 14736, Pliva, Croatia)'; in the accompanying rat work, gastric vessels stayed visible and gastric, oesophageal and duodenal lesions were inhibited after alcohol instillation, where the three standard anti-ulcer drugs only partly protected.
- Population
- Review naming the Pliva development codes and reviewing the cytoprotection evidence, with a rat distended-stomach experiment
- Intervention
- BPC 157 instilled into the stomach
- Comparator
- Atropine, ranitidine, omeprazole
- Limitations
- Review by the originating group; the safety claim about the human trials cannot be checked against a published trial report.
