Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
PL 14736 and PDGF-BB stimulated granulation tissue similarly in both models, but PL 14736 was more active at organising early collagen and induced egr-1 and its repressor nab2 in culture faster than PDGF-BB.
- Population
- Rat sponge-implant granuloma, full-thickness excisional wounds in db/db diabetic mice, and Caco-2 cells
- Intervention
- PL 14736 (the pharmaceutical designation of BPC 157)
- Comparator
- Becaplermin (recombinant PDGF-BB), the approved diabetic-ulcer growth factor
- Limitations
- Run by PLIVA Research Institute, the company developing the peptide — independent of the Zagreb university group but not disinterested; skin and granuloma endpoints, not musculoskeletal.
