COMPLICATING EVIDENCE: extracellular NAMPT (visfatin) — the same enzyme that makes NMN endogenously — drove prostaglandin E2 release and matrix-degrading activity in chondrocytes, showing the NAD+ pathway is not uniformly 'good' for cartilage.
