Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
BPC 157 raised the Achilles functional index at every time point (p<0.05) while lowering myeloperoxidase activity and raising the vascular index. Methylprednisolone matched the anti-inflammatory effect but suppressed new vessel formation and left functional recovery unchanged, separating the two effects.
- Population
- Wistar albino rats, Achilles tendon-to-bone transection, days 1–4
- Intervention
- BPC 157 10 µg/kg i.p. once daily from 30 min post-surgery
- Comparator
- Methylprednisolone 5 mg/kg i.p., and saline
- Limitations
- Four-day window, before collagen healing begins, so it measures early function rather than repair strength; originating Zagreb network.
