Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Named its own limit in its title. Resveratrol reproduced dietary-restriction gene-expression patterns and reduced signs of ageing — less albuminuria, less vascular inflammation and apoptosis, greater aortic elasticity, better motor coordination, fewer cataracts, preserved bone mineral density — but standard-diet mice given resveratrol from midlife did not live longer.
- Population
- Mice on a standard diet, treated from 12 months of age
- Intervention
- Dietary resveratrol
- Comparator
- Standard diet
- Limitations
- Mouse; treatment began in midlife. The clean statement of the healthspan-versus-lifespan distinction that the marketing around this compound tends to blur.
