Novinscak T, Brcic L, Staresinic M, Seiwerth S, Sikiric P, et al. · Surgery Today

Preclinicalcounts toward this tier

Both routes reduced haematoma and oedema, prevented the post-injury leg contracture, improved histology and function, and lowered creatine kinase, LDH, AST and ALT — the clearest demonstration that a topical route reproduces the systemic effect in muscle.

Population
Rats with a standardised gastrocnemius crush injury (0.727 Ns/cm²)
Intervention
BPC 157 intraperitoneally or topically as a thin cream layer, immediately after injury and daily for 14 days
Comparator
Untreated crush controls
Limitations
Originating network; enzyme markers and function reported without effect sizes in the indexed record.
