Efficacy of Waon therapy for fibromyalgia

Matsushita K, Masuda A, Tei C · Internal Medicine

Promisingcounts toward this tier

All 13 patients reported roughly half the pain after the first session (11-70% reduction), stabilizing at 20-78% after ten sessions; pain VAS and fibromyalgia impact scores fell significantly (p<0.01) and stayed low through observation.

Population
13 women with fibromyalgia meeting ACR criteria
Intervention
Waon therapy: 15 min far-infrared dry sauna at 60°C plus 30 min post-heating warmth, 2-5 days/week
Limitations
No control group; 13 patients; far-infrared protocol at 60°C, not a traditional sauna; fibromyalgia is a centralized pain condition, not a cartilage disease.
