Promisingcounts toward this tier
Frontal-cortex blood flow rose dose-dependently during cognitive tasks, with increased deoxyhaemoglobin suggesting greater oxygen extraction. Cognitive performance itself was not affected at either dose.
- Population
- Healthy adults
- Intervention
- Single doses of 250 mg and 500 mg trans-resveratrol, counterbalanced crossover
- Comparator
- Placebo
- Limitations
- Acute single doses in 22 healthy young adults; near-infrared spectroscopy is an indirect measure of blood flow. A physiological effect without a functional one.
