Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
No direct angiogenic effect appeared in cell culture; in the injured animals BPC 157 raised VEGF expression and vessel markers, placing the angiogenic effect downstream of injury rather than in the peptide acting on endothelium alone.
- Population
- Rat crushed muscle, transected muscle and transected tendon, plus cell culture
- Intervention
- BPC 157 in vivo and in vitro, with VEGF/CD34/factor VIII immunohistochemistry
- Comparator
- Untreated injured controls
- Limitations
- Descriptive immunohistochemistry without quantified vessel counts in the abstract record; originating network.
