Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Diclofenac alone produced gastric, intestinal and liver lesions, raised bilirubin, AST and ALT, enlarged the liver and caused hepatic encephalopathy with cortical and cerebellar oedema and damaged neurons; both BPC 157 routes antagonised the whole cluster.
- Population
- Rats given diclofenac 12.5 mg/kg i.p. daily for three days
- Intervention
- BPC 157 10 µg/kg or 10 ng/kg i.p., or per-orally in drinking water (0.16 µg/mL or 0.16 ng/mL)
- Comparator
- Diclofenac alone
- Limitations
- Originating network; a supratherapeutic NSAID dose, so it models toxicity rather than the routine analgesic use a reader would have in mind.
