Schauss AG, Stenehjem J, Park J, Endres JR, Clewell A · Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry

Promisingcounts toward this tier

Significant reduction in VAS pain at day 70 (p < 0.001) and in WOMAC at both day 35 (p = 0.017) and day 70 (p < 0.001), with improved physical activity. Tolerability equalled placebo. Matters here as the closest clinical analogue to eating chicken joint cartilage: it is the same tissue class as the cartilage in chicken feet.

Population
Adults with physician-verified progressive hip and/or knee osteoarthritis, pain >=3 months, Physician Global Assessment >=4
Intervention
2 g/day BioCell Collagen — hydrolyzed chicken sternal cartilage extract containing type II collagen, chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid — for 70 days
Comparator
Placebo
Limitations
