Inactive matrix Gla protein fell 17%, 33% and 46% across the three ascending doses, and at baseline it correlated inversely with dietary menaquinone intake but not at all with phylloquinone intake — evidence that the menaquinone side of vitamin K intake is what tracks this marker.
- Population
- Chronic haemodialysis patients, 8 weeks
- Intervention
- MK-7 at 360, 720 or 1080 ug three times weekly
- Comparator
- The three doses against each other
- Limitations
- No placebo group; 8 weeks; biomarker endpoint only; dropouts were driven largely by the smell of the tablets; a dialysis population.
