Promisingcounts toward this tier

The best-designed VERISOL trial: double-blind and placebo-controlled, with an objective instrument endpoint. Eye wrinkle volume fell about 20% against placebo at 4 and 8 weeks and remained lower 4 weeks after the last dose. Suction-blister biopsies in a subgroup found 65% more procollagen type I and 18% more elastin than placebo; fibrillin rose 6% and did not reach significance.

Population
Women aged 45-65
Intervention
2.5 g specific bioactive collagen peptides (VERISOL) once daily for 8 weeks
Comparator
Placebo
Limitations
Skin, not cartilage — the dermis is vascularized and turns over far faster than articular cartilage, so a dermal result transfers to a joint claim only by assumption. Co-author Oesser is at the Collagen Research Institute, the GELITA-linked arm, and the tested product is a GELITA brand. Eight weeks.
