Pentadecapeptide BPC 157 and anaphylactoid reaction in rats and mice after intravenous dextran and white egg administration

BPC 157 prevented and reversed the oedema, cyanosis, respiratory failure and deaths of the anaphylactoid model, where the two antihistamines were only moderately effective; the combinations tracked BPC 157 given alone.

Anaesthetised rats and mice given intravenous dextran or egg white

Intervention

BPC 157 10 pg – 10 µg/kg i.p., before or after challenge

Comparator

Chloropyramine 20 mg/kg, cimetidine 10 mg/kg, saline

Limitations

Originating network; an efficacy result in an immune model rather than a toxicology study, and it says nothing about the immunogenicity of repeated human dosing.
