Turmeric extract was non-inferior to ibuprofen on WOMAC pain and function at 4 weeks, with significantly fewer abdominal pain/GI adverse events in the curcumin group.

- Curcuma domestica (turmeric) extract 1500 mg/day for 4 weeks

- Ibuprofen 1200 mg/day (no placebo arm)

- No placebo arm; only 4 weeks; government-funded but extract standardization differs from Western products.
