Strongcounts toward this tier
Resveratrol significantly lowered fasting glucose, insulin, HbA1c and HOMA-IR in participants with diabetes, and had no significant effect on any glycaemic measure in non-diabetic participants — the split that explains why the healthy-volunteer trials keep coming back null.
- Population
- 388 participants across 11 randomised trials, diabetic and non-diabetic
- Intervention
- Resveratrol at a range of doses and durations
- Comparator
- Placebo
- Limitations
- Eleven small trials; the diabetic subgroup rests on a handful of studies, several from the same regions and groups. Later umbrella review graded most of these effects as trivial in magnitude and low in certainty.
