Promisingcounts toward this tier
Word retention over 30 minutes improved on resveratrol (z-score -2.2 ± 2.4 to -1.3 ± 1.6) while placebo did not change (-2.0 ± 2.0 to -2.4 ± 2.4), p=0.038. HbA1c fell from 5.83% to 5.70% (p=0.007) with no change on placebo, body fat fell 1.2% against a 0.9% rise (p=0.033), and hippocampal functional connectivity increased.
- Population
- Healthy overweight adults aged 50-75, 23 per group
- Intervention
- Resveratrol 200 mg/day (with 320 mg quercetin) for 26 weeks
- Comparator
- Placebo
- Limitations
- Forty-six participants, self-reported compliance, no resveratrol metabolite measurement, and quercetin co-administered so the two cannot be separated. Publicly funded. Not replicated at this endpoint.
