Overexpression increased proliferation and anchorage-independent colony formation, drove an EMT phenotype with loss of E-cadherin and gain of vimentin and N-cadherin, and raised invasion and MMP-2 activity — the same MMP-2 induction reported as beneficial in hair follicles.
