Cyanidin suppressed the hypertrophic markers Runx2 and Col10a1 — the shift that makes engineered cartilage behave like bone — but suppressed the chondrogenic markers Sox9 and Col2a1 alongside them, via reduced autophagy. A reminder that the same compound can look chondroprotective and anti-chondrogenic in one experiment.
