NULL. Insulin sensitivity measured by hyperinsulinaemic-euglycaemic clamp, endogenous glucose production, glucose disposal and oxidation were all unimproved, as were resting energy expenditure, lipolysis, lipid oxidation and body composition. Safety bloods were normal.

Population
Healthy sedentary men with BMI over 30, aged 40-70
Intervention
Nicotinamide riboside 1,000 mg twice daily (2,000 mg/day) for 12 weeks
Comparator
Placebo
Limitations
Men only; the population was insulin-resistant but not diabetic. An investigator-initiated trial with the field's most rigorous insulin-sensitivity method, which makes the null harder to explain away.
