Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Screens food compounds against cartilage endpoints side by side rather than one at a time, and finds combinations that outperform single agents — the closest thing in this literature to a test of whether eating a varied diet beats isolating one molecule from it.
- Population
- Human chondrocytes and cartilage models
- Intervention
- A panel of diet-derived compounds screened individually and in combination
- Comparator
- Untreated cells
- Limitations
- Cell-level screening. Synergy in a dish does not establish that the same combination is reachable by eating, or that it does anything to a joint.
