Anecdotalcounts toward this tier
Describes the menisci as two fibrocartilaginous crescents whose circumferential collagen architecture converts compressive load into hoop tension, improving joint congruity and absorbing shock. Notes that the medial meniscus keeps more attachments at both horns and the midbody than the lateral, which is offered as the reason it is injured more often.
- Population
- Narrative review of meniscal gross anatomy, vascular anatomy, biochemical composition and microstructure
- Limitations
- A narrative review carrying no primary data and no systematic search. Cited for anatomy and structure, never for an effect. Full text was not retrievable.
