Promisingcounts toward this tier
The low-dose curcumin complex improved VAS by 47.0%, walking performance by 206% and total WOMAC by 35% from baseline, which the authors report as superior to the glucosamine-chondroitin comparator.
- Population
- Adults with knee osteoarthritis, India
- Intervention
- Curcumagalactomannoside (CurQfen) 400 mg once daily for 6 weeks
- Comparator
- Glucosamine hydrochloride 500 mg plus chondroitin sulphate 415 mg twice daily
- Limitations
- Open-label with no placebo arm, 6 weeks, n=72; conducted and authored by the ingredient manufacturer (Akay), and the comparator is itself a weakly evidenced supplement, so 'superior' is a low bar.
