Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
AED raised synthesis of sirtuin-1, sirtuin-6 and type I collagen in aging fibroblasts; KE lowered IL-1, NF-kappaB and TGF-beta and raised sirtuin-6. Type I collagen is the skin isoform, not the type II collagen of articular cartilage.
- Population
- Human skin fibroblasts in a replicative-aging model
- Intervention
- AED (Cartalax) and KE (Vilon) peptides
- Comparator
- Untreated aging cultures
- Limitations
- Immunocytochemistry with confocal microscopy and no numbers in the indexed abstract; skin fibroblasts, not chondrocytes; institute-authored.
