Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Two ternary Cu(GHK)-albumin complexes form through histidine imino nitrogens, one at His3 (conditional constant 2900 M⁻¹) and a second at His128 or His510 (1700 M⁻¹). GHK is most concentrated in the albumin-rich plasma fraction, and these complexes give a physical route by which it could shuttle the exchangeable copper pool.
- Population
- Human serum albumin and GHK in solution at pH 7.4
- Intervention
- Spectroscopic characterisation of ternary Cu(2+) complexes
- Comparator
- Binary Cu-GHK and Cu-albumin complexes
- Limitations
- Solution chemistry. It establishes that the complexes can exist, not that they carry copper to any tissue in vivo.
