Oral Administration of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide Is Safe and Efficiently Increases Blood Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Levels in Healthy Subjects

Okabe K, Yaku K, Uchida Y, Fukamizu Y, Sato T, Sakurai T · Frontiers in Nutrition

Promisingcounts toward this tier

Whole-blood NAD+ rose significantly against placebo with no abnormalities in physiological or laboratory tests. Blood NMN itself did not rise, while nicotinic acid mononucleotide did — a clue that oral NMN reaches NAD+ by an indirect route.

Population
Healthy adult volunteers
Intervention
NMN 250 mg/day for 12 weeks
Comparator
Placebo
Limitations
Fifteen per arm, healthy volunteers, biochemical endpoints only; no functional or clinical outcome was measured. Manufacturer-affiliated authorship.
