Promisingcounts toward this tier
Higher vitamin K intake tracked greater improvement in total WOMAC and dysfunction scores over 24 months, most clearly in those with severe baseline pain, but there was no overall association with MRI cartilage defects, bone marrow lesions or effusion-synovitis — symptoms moved and structure did not.
- Population
- Patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, 212 followed for 2 years with MRI
- Intervention
- Baseline dietary vitamin K intake by validated food-frequency questionnaire
- Comparator
- Lower intake quartiles
- Limitations
- Observational with a single baseline questionnaire; the structural findings appear only in subgroups after multiple comparisons; food-frequency vitamin K is overwhelmingly K1, and dietary intake tracks overall diet quality.
