Promisingcounts toward this tier
Pooled reductions in CRP (-0.58 mg/L, 95% CI -0.74 to -0.41), TNF-alpha (-3.48 pg/mL) and IL-6 (-1.31 pg/mL), with no change in IL-1beta; total antioxidant capacity rose and malondialdehyde fell.
- Population
- 66 RCTs of turmeric or curcumin supplementation in adults
- Intervention
- Turmeric or curcumin supplementation
- Comparator
- Placebo or control
- Limitations
- The pooled effect sizes are small in absolute terms and the trial base is dominated by short studies in metabolic populations; GRADE certainty varied by outcome, and the earlier disease-restricted meta-analysis (pmid-31121255) found nothing.
