Preclinicalcounts toward this tier
Both the AED peptide and the cartilage polypeptide complex raised expression and protein synthesis of the chondrogenic markers SOX9, aggrecan, type II collagen and COMP in aging MSCs — the first indexed cartilage-marker endpoint for either substance.
- Population
- Human mesenchymal stem cell cultures in a replicative-aging model
- Intervention
- AED tripeptide (Cartalax) at 200 ng/ml and the cartilage polypeptide complex (CPC, the Sigumir substance) at 2000 ng/ml
- Comparator
- Untreated aging cultures
- Limitations
- Institute-authored; Russian-language journal tied to the originating institute; marker expression in stem-cell culture, not cartilage tissue or matrix function; no effect sizes, replicate counts or dose-response reported in the indexed abstract.
