Promisingcounts toward this tier
A direct test of the piperine combination against a modern formulation. Total-curcuminoid Cmax was 74.56 ng/mL for the water-dispersible extract against 22.75 ng/mL for the curcuminoid-piperine capsules, and AUC0-t was 419.00 against 359.86 h·ng/mL — equivalent exposure from a tenth of the actives.
- Population
- Healthy adult males, fasting crossover
- Intervention
- Water-dispersible turmeric extract WDTE60N, 250 mg once daily
- Comparator
- Turmeric extract capsules with 500 mg curcuminoids plus 5 mg piperine, taken three times daily (1500 mg curcuminoids total)
- Limitations
- Open-label, n=16, single day, and run by the test product's manufacturer (Nutriventia), which is the party the comparison favours. Total curcuminoids are measured after deconjugation.
