Puts a second vitamin-K-dependent protein beside matrix Gla protein. Gla-rich protein is the most γ-carboxylated protein known, is abundant in cartilage, and acts as a calcification inhibitor — so the pathway that vitamin K switches on in a joint has more than one arm to it.
