Promisingcounts toward this tier
The joint studies reported pain reduction, improved clinical parameters and greater physical mobility. Muscle benefits appeared mainly alongside concurrent exercise, and the bone studies carried limitations the authors say prevent a definitive conclusion — a narrower claim than the joint section makes, from the same review.
- Population
- 36 randomized controlled trials of type I collagen hydrolysate across bone, muscle and joint endpoints
- Intervention
- Type I hydrolysed collagen, doses and durations varying by included trial
- Limitations
- Narrative synthesis across three unrelated tissue endpoints with no pooled effect size, no GRADE assessment and no risk-of-bias table in the abstract. One author is employed by Genu-in, a collagen producer; the authors state this did not influence the findings. Included doses and durations vary too widely to read a dose-response from.
