Diastolic blood pressure fell modestly against placebo (weighted mean difference -2.15 mmHg, 95% CI -3.68 to -0.61). Systolic pressure did not change overall, but fell 3.94 mmHg (95% CI -7.06 to -0.82) in participants aged 60 and over.

Common-effects model across 349 participants; the systolic finding is a subgroup result. Two millimetres of diastolic pressure is at the edge of clinical meaning, and the diastolic effect does not survive most subgroup splits — it is absent under 60, at a BMI of 25 or over, below ten weeks, above 300 mg a day, and at a baseline diastolic of 80 or more.
