Concentration-dependent relaxation in both groups, significantly greater with endothelium intact (p<0.05); L-NAME attenuated the relaxation and abolished the endothelium advantage, with the curves converging at higher concentrations — the first functional BPC 157 data in human arterial tissue.

Population
Residual human internal mammary artery segments from 12 elective coronary bypass operations
Intervention
BPC 157 0.01–1 mg/mL, cumulative concentration-response, on phenylephrine-precontracted rings
Comparator
Endothelium-denuded rings, and rings pre-incubated with L-NAME
Limitations
Ex vivo human tissue, not a clinical outcome; concentrations are far above anything a systemic dose would produce; single centre, 12 donors.
