The effect of curcumin and piperine co-supplementation on glycemic indices in prediabetes: A triple-blind randomized controlled trial

Ghazaee H, Sahebkar A, Mazloum Khorasani Z, Emadzadeh M · Avicenna Journal of Phytomedicine

Promisingcounts toward this tier

Fasting glucose and HbA1c did not differ between groups. CRP fell and insulin rose in the curcumin-piperine arm, but both differences disappeared after adjustment for baseline CRP and weight.

Population
Adults with prediabetes, Iran
Intervention
Curcumin 500 mg plus piperine 5 mg daily for 3 months
Comparator
Placebo
Limitations
n=68 over 3 months with a negative primary outcome; the surviving CRP signal did not withstand adjustment.
