GHK raised chondrocyte proliferation and the collagen synthetic rate on both collagen supports. Which collagen the cells made tracked the support: on cartilage collagen the cells synthesised predominantly type II, on the denatured skin-collagen support types I and III. The authors proposed GHK supplementation for preparing cartilage implants.

Population
Chick embryo chondrocytes cultured on plastic, on cartilage collagens, and on denatured insoluble skin collagen (ISC-40)
Intervention
Culture medium supplemented with (Gly-His-Lys)2·Cu·2H2O·2NaCl
Comparator
Unsupplemented medium on the same three supports
Limitations
Chick embryo cells; the abstract reports directions, not effect sizes or dispersion. Support material rather than GHK governed which collagen type dominated. No aggrecan, proteoglycan or mechanical endpoint.
