Copper-tripeptide wounds carried more type I collagen than controls at day 6 and significantly more than all other wounds at day 14. The early planimetric healing-rate and hydroxyproline advantage belonged to the immunostimulant arm, not to the copper tripeptide.
- Population
- 12 mature English Pointers with 6 × 8 mm full-thickness metatarsal and digital pad wounds
- Intervention
- Intralesional tripeptide-copper complex injected at days 0, 3 and 6
- Comparator
- Saline injection, and an immunostimulant arm
- Limitations
- Dermal footpad model. The collagen result and the healing-rate result point at different treatments, so the copper tripeptide's benefit here is compositional, not clinical.
