Unfilled defects healed slowest, the gel without GHK healed substantially faster, and the complete GHK-containing gel healed fastest on radiography, NMR and histology. Osteogenic activity was visible at the trabecular bone-metal interface when the gel was used with cementless endoprostheses.

- Guinea pigs with artificially created femoral diaphyseal bone defects, and cementless endoprostheses
- Intervention
- Collagen-glycosaminoglycan gel supplemented with GHK, pefloxacin and hypersulphated glycosaminoglycan
- Comparator
- The same gel without GHK, and unfilled defects
- Limitations
- Diaphyseal bone, not an articular surface. Morphological scoring without stated animal numbers, randomisation or blinding; the gel is a four-component formulation.
